LIT project
Now in its second year, Literacy Intensive Tutoring, or LIT Project is for qualifying children in first or second grade who are struggling with reading and writing. This takes place on Mondays AND Wednesdays from 6:10-7:30pm at St. Vincent de Paul Center on the 2nd floor. This is also a one to one program with a volunteer tutor. Children do not bring homework. Instead they follow a literacy curriculum and make improvements each week.

To apply for the LIT project, please print out and fully complete an application and Family Financial Form.

Tutoring begins the week of September 26th, 2011. See our calendar for fall dates.

Transportation
Please refer to CGTP bus schedule . Click here to view the new schedule.

Please make sure that your child is aware of the pick up time. He or she should be waiting for the bus as it arrives. The bus cannot wait long, especially at 900 N. Hudson. The bus will leave the Center no later than 7:40pm each night and return the children to the same bus stops.

If you drive your child, you must park in the garage and walk them in/out. To get to the garage, turn behind the building on Webster and follow the underground parking. Buzz the door and come to the first floor lobby. We will escort your child from there. Please plan to pick up your child in the first floor lobby at the end of the night. Please do not drop your child at the back door. These doors are locked and no one can be buzzed in.

For public transportation, the Halsted and Fullerton buses drop off at the corner of the building(webster & Halsted). Also, the Red Line has a nearby stop at Fullerton and the Brown Line at Armitage.

Parent Volunteers
We are always looking for a few good parents to help during tutoring sessions. Please contact Erin McPartlin if you are interested.
